Sohag University offers undergraduate programs (BA) and postgraduate programs (Diploma, MA and PhD).

The main campus of Sohag University is located in one of the most beautiful areas on the eastern bank of the River Nile, directly facing the river east to Sohag city. The streets that lead to the university is called ‘El-jamia’a St.’ (University St.), while the whole district is generally known as ‘Madinet Naser’ or Naser City, established within the 1950s. The local metropolis Sohag city is just on the opposite bank of the Nile, and connects to the eastern bank with two bridges: Akhmim Bridge, and the new one.
The main campus of the University at Naser City includes Faculties of Education, Science, Arts, Medicine, Veterinary medication, while the Faculty of Agriculture exists in the campus at El-Kawthar city (15 km east to Sohag city), and the faculties of Engineering and Technical Education are in another campus at Sohag city (7 km distant from the main campus). A new campus is currently being constructed at the new El-Kawamel city (20 km south east to Sohag city), within a great national construction project that sets out to establish Al-Kawamel city, and Sohag Air Port at that area.

Residency in Sohag city is available for the male and female students of the university at the hostels of the university, or in domestic private housing.
The city of Sohag, also, has a variation of hotels that meet different standards, which suite the short-term visits, and preferred by parents who may visit the city.

A network of roads directly leads to the main campus of the university, and connect it to the main arrival stations of the governorate: bus, and railway. Public and private transportation is available, also, to the other campuses of the university.
